Should my brand or business be on TikTok?

TikTok is everywhere these days with good reason - the latest social media craze is fun, highly targeted, and creative! For content creators, TikTok is a place where you can see quick growth if you’re putting out quality content. For businesses, TikTok is a way to reach your niche customer base without sending a ton of money on traditional advertising or Facebook/Instagram advertising.

SO, SHOULD YOUR COMPANY JOIN TIKTOK?

Before you make that decision, here are a few things you should know:

  1. Make sure you have resources and time to devote to creating and posting. TikTok algorithm favors people who post often and consistently (many successful accounts post 3-5 times a day!).

  2. Look at your target demographic. Although TikTok is growing more and more each day the majority of users are Gen Z (under 25 years old). Use TikTok as a platform to connect with a younger audience.

  3. Be okay showing the faces behind your company. Success TikTok content shows faces - people want to see people! Especially since the platform took off during peak-quarantine time, users want to interact and feel like they know the faces behind the brands.

  4. You MUST stay familiar with trends on TikTok. If you want to see any kind of success, knowing what is currently trending is the key to growth and engagement. Being an active user of the platform is the easiest way to stay knowledgeable and current with trending dances, sounds, topics, and content.

Sound do-able? Then jump in and experiment!

The best way to make sure your brand’s TikTok doesn’t falter or fail is to put some strategy and thought into creating engaging videos that match the community vibe of the platform. Since only a few brands have jumped into testing the waters, it’s a good time to join! Keep in mind - your regular Instagram and Facebook strategy won’t get you far on TikTok – you will have to give the audience what they want.
