My social media was deleted…what do I do?
By: Digitally Driven team
You were going about your business on social media - posting and building your community. Then one day…it’s just gone. Your account has been deleted by the platform. You check and your account has been flagged as violated community guidelines. However, you never posted anything against community guidelines.
We know this feels like a huge panic, but there is a solution!
It happens every day to innocent people that have built their business from social media alone and they lose not just their community but actual profits.
What do you do if this happens to you?
Report it - The first thing to do is report it to the social media platform that you are on. You can refute it and appeal to see if they will reinstate your account.
Lean on your community - If you can create a new account and find community members you had before, share your story and what happens. If you can create enough buzz, you might be able to get the attention of powers that be to reactivate your original account.
How to protect your business if social media isn’t an option
Social media is a great asset to businesses - it's free and millions use it. Win-win!
However, it can be gone overnight. There are campaigns to shut down TikTok and Mark Zuckerberg has been under a magnifying glass for years now. Social media is “rented property” and not really yours.
The best way to ensure that you keep your community and your business going is to find other ways to connect.
We recommend starting an email list. You can promote it on social media to get people to sign up for your email list.
You can send out a few emails a month regarding business updates or new products to your community. So when social media goes down again - and it will - you have a safety net.
