5 tips to build trust on your website
Building trust on your website is ESSENTIAL if you will be doing any sort of e-commerce sales, lead generation, or trying to increase customer referrals.
When it comes to establishing trust, it doesn’t matter how compelling your calls-to-action are, how engaging your content is, or how quickly your pages load on mobile screens. If visitors to your site have any doubts about how trustworthy you are, they’ll bounce right out and never come back.
Here are 5 tips to build trust on your website so you can increase sales and leads:
ANSWER - WHAT DO YOU DO?
The quickest way to win customers through your website is to clearly state what you do, right on the landing page. Your website should answer (above the fold) exactly what you do in a very clear, concise way. If people land on your website and can’t tell what you do within 3-5 seconds of landing on your site, then their most likely to leave - which hurts your Search Engine Optimization. Every type of website needs a clear statement near the top of the homepage that spells it out for your website viewer.
SOCIAL PROOF / CASE STUDIES / TESTIMONIALS
Including testimonials, case studies, and any social proof adds to your website in a positive way from your customers’ point of view. If you link to reviews on third-party websites where your customer can validate that it’s a true testimonial will also add extra clout to your testimonial.
ADD A BLOG
Showcase your expertise on your business’ subject matter by including articles you have written that will interest your customers. Blogging also helps with your website’s search engine optimization (seo).
Another reason to add a blog is it gives you more chances to write content that will benefit your customer. Think about it - if you’re being sold something do you want to hear how great it is, OR how it will help improve your life? To start writing from a beneficial point of view, ask yourself - what problem am I helping my customer solve? When you make the focus of your copywriting about your client, you'll see success in connecting with them. Connecting with them = more revenue for you!
SHOW YOUR FACE!
If you're a service provider, which means you're the face of your brand, show yourself (and your team) at least in the about page. This shows your customers or potential client the person behind the brand, and if you will be doing any face-to-face meetings or sales this is key for adding a level of comfort with your clients.
HAVE AN EASY-TO-NAVIGATE, PROFESSIONAL, MODERN WEB PRESENCE
The quickest way to instill trust in your customer is to have a website that clearly says who you are, is easily useable, and makes the buying or contact process easy. Looking like your website was built in 2019/2020 instills trust that you are still in business and are “online” often enough that if someone has an issue or question, they can easily reach you.
At the end of the day, if you’re working with a designer who also has a marketing background *cough*cough* then they will be able to help you determine what content will be best for your website.
